This fact sheet describes overweight among Latino adolescents in California based on data from the 2003 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS 2003). Latino adolescents have the highest prevalence of overweight. Among Latino adolescents, boys and those who are U.S. born are particularly at risk. The fact sheet recommends that families, schools, communities, health professionals and policymakers must become engaged in efforts to change the conditions that foster inactivity and unhealthy eating. This fact sheet was funded by the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California, The California Endowment and the California Wellness Foundation.
