August 23 webinar: Transforming neighborhoods into safe and healthy communities

One out of four California teens do not have access to a safe park or playground for physical activity, according to a 2005 study by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.  And many Americans are unable to get active because their neighborhoods do not have safe parks, or lack proper bike lanes and sidewalks.

What’s the answer?  Join the Latino Health Access and Strategic Alliance along with other public health experts and community leaders in California on August 24 in a free webinar as they discuss how to transform neighborhoods into safe and healthy communities by increasing access to parks and open space as well as investing in physical activity infrastructure like sidewalks, bike lanes and crosswalks.  The webinar, the first of a three part series, will specifically focus on how to conduct neighborhood data and walkability assessments.
