Center researchers to present at 14 sessions and 4 posters at leading conference with focus on health policy 

The Center's expertise as one of the chief sources of data and analysis for California's health care reform implementation will be on display at AcademyHealth, the annual meeting of health services researchers as well as those interested in health care policy.The meeting takes place in San Diego from June 8-10.   

In total, 15 Center researchers will lead or participate in 14 session panels and present an additional 4 posters. The Center is also a sponsor of the Academy's State Health Research and Policy Interest Group (SHRP).   Health equity, community health centers, community wellness programs and innovative research methods are just a few of the topics that Center researchers will discuss in presentations. Center presentations include:   

• Measurement Challenges and Data Sources for Research on LGBT Populations  
• Build Don't Duplicate: Enhancing HSR/PHSR Research, Data and Policy Resources   
• Indigent Care Program: Do People Know They're Uninsured?   
• Predicting Disenrollment under Medicaid Expansion: Findings from a Health Care Coverage Program in California   
• Reporting and Interpretation of Coverage Expansion: Lessons Learned   

Other Center researchers taking leadership roles in this year's meeting include: Associate Center Director Ninez Ponce, who will moderate the  "Population Health and Health Equity" pre-conference session; Research Director Nadereh Pourat, who will chair "Opening Pandora's Box? Managing the Health Care and Use of Newly Insured Medicaid."

Center Director Gerald Kominski will speak at the pre-session State Health Research Policy and Interest Group Inaugural Meeting about how participants can advocate for their work and about the importance of federal funding for health services research.
