The Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California 2013

​Women are living longer, getting more and better health care, and making steady progress in certain professional fields. Yet inequities persist in other areas including mental health, domestic violence and equal pay, according to The Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California 2013 published by Mount St. Mary's College.

The report used California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) data and a related Center policy brief to highlight key concerns, such as emotional well-being and intimate partner violence. More than one million women have symptoms associated with serious psychological distress and they report higher rates of psychological distress than men, according to Over One Million Adult Women in California Report Serious Psychological Distress During the Past Year, a Center publication that used CHIS data and was cited in the report.
