​Women in California generally live longer than men by about five years, women to age 82.5 and men to 77.5. Many women find themselves widowed, divorced/separated, never married or not partnered at and over age 65. This report uses 2011 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) indicators of mental health, social environment and economic security to focus on nonpartnered older women in California.
