​Created in 2016, the California Women’s Well-Being Index focuses on data on the state’s women in five general areas: health, personal safety, employment & earnings, economic security and political empowerment. The index includes variables from the California Health Interview Survey (ranging from 2010 to 2014) on health (health status, obesity, health care coverage, delayed medical care, mental health status); personal safety (neighborhood safety); and economic security (food insecurity).
