Authors examine the demographic, socioeconomic, and health characteristics of Asian non-citizen LGBT immigrants. Authors focused on noncitizens, including both those who are authorized to be in the United States and those who are unauthorized, because they are a group at heightened vulnerability to low socioeconomic status and poor health.

Based on 2022 CHIS data, the percentage of nonelderly Californians without health insurance dropped to 6.2% in 2022, a statistically significant decline from 2021 (7.4%). The rate of nonelderly people without coverage for a year or more also reached a historic low in 2022. significant decline. However, Latino/x Californians continue to be uninsured at rates triple that of their white counterparts. Black and Asian Californians are uninsured at twice the rate of white Californians.

Using data gathered from first-person accounts, this study examines the needs of transgender, nonbinary, and intersex (TGI) adults who live, work, or receive services in the City of Los Angeles. In this quality-of-life assessment, most (94.6%) focus group participants were transgender and 16.4% of participants identified as intersex. Nearly all participants were people of color, almost two-thirds were Latinx/Hispanic, and half were not born a U.S. citizen. This study uses 2015–2021 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) data.

The aim of this scoping review was to assist researchers who want to use survey data, either in academic or community settings, to identify and comprehend health disparities affecting Native Hawaiian (NH), Pacific Islander (PI), and/or Filipino populations, as these are groups with known and numerous health disparities. The scoping review methodology was used to identify survey datasets that disaggregate data for NH, PI, or Filipinos.

This issue brief uses data from the 2021 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) to explore how telehealth use varies across subpopulations of adults in the state and reports how people rate their telehealth experience compared to in-person care. The brief concludes with a discussion of potential policy implications of the findings, and areas for future data collection and research.

Authors examine the short-term implementation lessons from the Medi-Cal expansion to adults 50+ a year after its implementation to inform the planned expansion of full-scope Medi-Cal to adults 26 to 49 years of age in 2024. They also identify policy options to address undocumented immigrant adults aged 50 and over who will continue to be ineligible for Medi-Cal coverage because their incomes exceed the 138 percent FPL eligibility threshold.
