That percentage represents an alarming increase since 2009, when just over one-quarter of the state’s children had one or more sugary drinks per day.

Komen®.   California is home to about 31 percent of the entire U.S.

New study finds that African-American, low-income children at risk CORRECTION:  [Nov. 2, 2011] A sample size miscalculation in the original version of this publication resulted in errors to the estimated number of children affected by secondhand smoke, although the percentages, interpretation and findings remain correct. The errors were related to pooling three cycles of CHIS data.  The Center regrets the error.

Nearly 4 million adults in California reported being a victim of physical or sexual violence at the hands of a spouse, companion or other intimate partner, according to estimates in a new policy brief from the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.  

Of those victims, more than 1 million reported being forced to have sex by an intimate partner, the study found.
