Examining the association between the political-economic structure of the U.S. agriculture industry and Latino health

PROJECT DATE: to

This study applies a fundamental cause lens to examine the association between the political-economic structure of the agriculture industry and Latinx population. Using county-level data for Latino adults from the 2020-2022 California Health Interview Surveys (CHIS), it estimates mixed-effects ordinal logistic regressions to test the association between the county-level political-economic structure of the agriculture industry and Latinx self-rated health. This study seeks to advance the knowledge of the structural drivers of Latino health by leveraging public institutional sources of data on the agriculture industry and linking them to individual-level health outcomes.
