The focus of my study is to explore the relationship between mental distress and functional impairment and their impact on the utilization of mental health services within the Filipino American community. Employing a cross-sectional study design and utilizing secondary data from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) (2023a), the target population comprises adult Filipino Americans aged 18 and above in non-institutionalized households in California.
