Experiences of Hate Incidents in California: Analysis of the California Health Interview Survey

PROJECT DATE: to

This project will analyze the prevalence, consequences, and predictors of hate incidents in California using CHIS 2023-2024 data. It will examine how these experiences differ across sociodemographic characteristics such as sexual identity, gender identity, race/ethnicity, disability status, income, and geography. Additionally, the study will explore associations between hate incidents and adverse health outcomes, while considering the impact of holding intersectional identities and external stressors (e.g., adverse childhood experiences). Findings will be used to inform public policies targeted at prevention, intervention, and victim support.
