My project will test the hypothesis that residents who recently experienced an involuntary move are more likely to feel isolated in their neighborhood than residents who recently moved according to their own volition. There are several reasons why this might be the case. A resident who is forced to move may have little time to find a new place to live, may have no choice but to settle for a home or neighborhood that is dissatisfying, may move to a neighborhood where there is significant residential turnover, and may have had few opportunities to build social ties in the neighborhood where they relocated.
