Prevalence of Intimate Partner Violence in California

PROJECT DATE: to
This project examines the prevalence and distribution of intimate partner violence (IPV) in California using CHIS data collected across multiple survey cycles between 2001 and 2023. Analyses will focus on county- and subgroup-level patterns by covariates, including age, gender, race/ethnicity, insurance type, education, and federal poverty level. The study will also assess associations between self-reported IPV incidents and healthcare utilization, including dental and emergency department visits, as well as substance use. Findings will provide updated statewide insights to inform policy, resource allocation, and targeted public health interventions aimed at reducing IPV and advancing health equity.
