Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Access to Mental Health Services under the ACA

The study aims to assess the effect of the ACA on mental health utilization in one state, and whether that effect differed among racial groups. First, the proposed study will examine whether racial and ethnic disparities in mental health utilization have been reduced under the ACA. Second, specific attention will be given to non-financial factors – specifically, language proficiency, stigma- that affect mental health service utilization for racial/ethnic minorities.
