Summary
The primary focus of this community health assessment was to begin to bridge the data gap and intercept emerging health needs by collecting insights from a diverse sample of current and former NHPI Long Beach residents. In collaboration with a community advisory committee, the assessment team conducted the assessment in three phases: A community health survey of current and former NHPI Long Beach residents; community listening sessions about interpretation of data collected from the surveys; a health needs assessment drafted by Long Beach Department of Health in collaboration with an academic consultant.
Findings: The assessment discusses findings from five focus areas — general health information, health services and communication, mental health, nutrition and economic security — as well as implications and recommendations related to the findings.
Note: Two publications co-authored by members of the NHPI Data Policy Lab at UCLA CHPR are referenced in the assessment. Richard Calvin Chang was academic advisor on the health assessment.
