Michael Tzen is a senior statistician at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research working on statistical methodology for the California Health Interview Survey and supporting research, design, and analysis. Tzen researches and applies statistical machine learning to population science.

Prior to joining UCLA CHPR, Tzen was the associate director of statistics at the UCLA Center for Population Research and a mathematical statistician at the U.S. Census Bureau.

Tzen has a master's degree in statistics from UCLA and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from California State University, Fullerton.
