Mona AuYoung, PhD, MPH, is an affiliate at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, co-lead for the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI)’s Community Engagement and Research Program (CERP), and assistant adjunct professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She also co-directs the Community-Based Participatory Research course for UCLA’s National Clinicians Scholars Program.

AuYoung focuses on community engagement, including both teaching (from high school to post-doctoral clinicians) and research (working with different populations such as veterans, safety net clinic patients, or local families). This work has included diabetes prevention and management, COVID outreach, mental health, and language justice.

AuYoung received her BA in integrative biology from UC Berkeley; MS in kinesiology from CSU Hayward; MPH in community health sciences and PhD in health services with a cognate in organizational management from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health; and a graduate concentration in Asian American studies from the UCLA Asian American Studies Department. She also completed an AcademyHealth Delivery Systems Science fellowship and VA HSR&D fellowship at the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor VA with the Diabetes QUERI.
