The Fourth Edition of Changing the U.S. Health Care System, edited by Center Director Gerald Kominski, is now in print! This definitive resource on key topics in health care policy and management includes extensive new material on the impact of the Affordable Care Act, particularly on Medicare, Medicaid, and large and small group insurance markets. In addition, the book features new chapters on the social determinants of health, improving the safety net, as well as expanded coverage of nursing, disease management, mental health, women's health, children's health, and care for the homeless.
Each chapter is written by a leading expert in the field who integrates evidence to explain the current condition and presents support for needed change. Spearheaded by Kominski and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health's department of health policy and management, proceeds from the textbook fund the annual Samuel Tibbitts Distinguished Lecture Series, among other programs.
