A cross-sectional study using CHIS data (2021-2022 pooled) is proposed to provide information about LGBT groups and risk of gun violence. LGBT adults will be identified by responses to self-report measures of sexual orientation identity, gender identity, and assigned sex at birth. Dependent variables include: 1) presence of gun in the household (with follow-ups about handgun and gun safety/storage) 2) ability to get a firearm within 2 days (ages 18-25), and, 3) worry about gun victimization. Covariates include: past year psychological distress (Kessler-6 dichotomous), suicidal ideation or attempt, past year intimate partner violence, age, gender identity, race-ethnicity, citizenship status, educational attainment, household type (4-level), health insurance type, veteran status, neighborhood social cohesion items, urban/rural residence, and county of residence.
