The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research (CHPR) has received funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to expand its work supporting organizations committed to improving their data quality and integrity. The UCLA Data Equity Center (DEC) will continue technical assistance activities with a heightened focus on state-level data leaders advancing policy and practice to secure data ecosystems that are responsive to state needs.
To support state efforts, the DEC is launching a 30-month program for a cohort of states to receive hands-on technical assistance, participate in a learning community of state data leaders, and share their experiences to benefit other data directors. The initiative is focused on building systems that ensure the quality of data related to race and ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity, and disability.
Program highlights:
- Two in-person convenings (travel provided) for shared learning, partnership building, and technical assistance
- Virtual group workshops to address shared challenges and exchange strategies
- One-on-one support tailored to each state’s project
The DEC will host an informational webinar on Thursday, November 6, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. PT (Noon–1:00 p.m. ET) for those interested in learning more about the program and application process for the cohort.
Other key dates:
- Notice of intent to apply: November 30, 2025
- Applications due: December 22, 2025
- Notification of selection: January 15, 2026
Leveraging UCLA CHPR’s extensive experience in centering equity through key programs like the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) and National Network of Health Surveys, the UCLA Data Equity Center launched in 2022 and has provided technical assistance, expertise, and resources to increase the representation in and access to data for marginalized populations.
