Access to Mental Health Care among Latino and Asian American/Pacific Islander Populations

PROJECT DATE: to

We will examine key mental health indicators among the diverse Latino and AAPI populations including the need for mental health services and unmet need for prevention, early intervention, and treatment services. We will examine both subjective and objective need for mental health services using self-reported need and the Kessler-6 which measures serious and moderate levels of psychological distress. Indicators will also be examined in comparison with other racial/ethnic groups. In addition, we will examine the extent to which differences in unmet need among disaggregated Latino and AAPI ethnic groups are explained by demographic, economic and cultural factors such as age, gender, education, income, employment, insurance status, language, and citizenship status.
