In this project we will study how parks in urban areas affect nearby residents' physical and mental health and estimate the value of urban parks in terms of human health. To do so, we evaluate the California Park Development and Community Revitalisation Programme, which allocates grants to low-income areas with limited park acreage, using an empirical design that exploits geographic discontinuities in eligibility and variation in the timing of park construction.
