Summary
In 2025, Behavioral Health Services began meeting with community leadership teams (CLTs) in the five Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) regions as part of the Behavioral Health Services Act’s Integrated Plan to incorporate stakeholder engagement into the local community planning process. In addition to supporting the Integrated Plan, BHS meets with the regional CLTs to work with the local health jurisdiction to support the community health improvement plan/and community health assessments by providing analysis, interpretation and presentation of findings on local behavioral health data to the regions.
These presentations use the U.S. Census’s American Community Survey data and California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) data on adults unable to work due to mental health problems (2023), adult suicidal ideation by sexual orientation and gender identity (2019–2023), adults who needed help for emotional/mental problems or use of alcohol/drugs (2023), and adults who have ever tried marijuana or hashish (2017–2023).
