Summary
The study tested whether the relationship between food insecurity (FI) and Type 2 diabetes (T2D) varied by race/ethnicity and sex/gender. Authors analyzed data from low-income adults participating in the 2009 and 2011 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS).
The authors found positive associations between low food security and T2D for white men, and between very low food security and T2D for White women. In Latinas, positive associations were observed between both low food security and very low food security and T2D. No associations were observed between FI and T2D in Latino men, or African American women and men.Publication Authors:
