Summary
Authors of the report attempt to assess what women need in order to attain agency for themselves, add meaning to their lives, and contribute fully to their families, communities and businesses. For a more fulfilling, purposeful life, authors conclude women need:
• Good health and health care
• Economic security and education
• Work-life balance and support at home
Authors discover a complex story of progress in some areas, and stagnation or regression in others. The report has Key Takeaways from each of the three primary areas of research, as well as an annual Scorecard that highlights women's progress or lack thereof, when it comes to gender parity in education, media, earnings, and corporate and political leadership.
The 2023 report contains 2015–2021 data from CHIS on topics such as sexual orientation; impact of COVID-19 on work experience; volunteer community work; emotional well-being; and delays seeking medical care.
