Summary
Los Angeles County has the largest Latina population of any county in the United States by far, including almost 1.5 million Latina adults aged 18 years and older. LBTQ identification is growing among Latinas in Los Angeles County and California, particularly among those who are younger and identify as bisexual. Latinas, including LBTQ Latinas, are civically engaged and helping to shape the political and cultural direction of Los Angeles. However, Latinas in Los Angeles County also face overlapping barriers based on their sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, immigration status, and other characteristics. Understanding and supporting the future of Los Angeles requires a deeper understanding of the challenges that LBTQ Latinas face and the contributions they are making, and will continue to make, to Los Angeles.
