California's comprehensive tobacco control program begins its next chapter with a paradigm shift from trying to control the tobacco industry and the damage it inflicts to a new era of seeing an end to the tobacco epidemic. The program’s new name, the California Tobacco Prevention Program (CTPP), reflects this change.

This data brief investigates justice involvement, specifically arrests and bookings, among California adults. Justice involvement also includes stops by police, sentencing and imprisonment, fatal encounters with law enforcement, probation, and parole. Incarcerated persons have higher rates of infectious and chronic diseases, disabilities, and mental health conditions than the general public.
