Staffing Transformation Following Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition Among Health Resources & Services Administration-Funded Health Centers (Health Care Management Review)

From estimating enrollment in Covered California, to serving as one of the few sources of data on underserved groups such as LGB and ethnic communities, to proving the link between fast food consumption and poor health, data from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) were essential to understanding some of the most important health issues faced by California and the nation in 2013.

This fact sheet gives an overview of the legislation, awards, trainings and research (including dozens of journal articles) that used CHIS in 2013. Of particular note is the CHIS contribution to health care reform implementation in California, including the survey's role in supporting the "individual mandate," creating new tracking tools, and helping the state to prepare for more than three million newly insured residents.

With more than 40,000 registered AskCHIS users, nearly one million queries made, and more than 30,000 public use data files downloaded, CHIS has proven its value to the people and organizations working to improve the public's health.
